Happy Birthday, Beyonce!

Today marks the 9th anniversary of Aaliyah’s death. I still remember it. I was laying in bed in Indianapolis watching tv when an alert came over my Timeport (remember those?!) that there’d been a plane crash in the Bahamas and Aaliyah, along with 8 others, had died.

I immediately thought it was a hoax…because that couldn’t be right!….so I turned to CNN and there it was, splashed on the screen, that Aaliyah had in fact passed away. I felt heartbroken. I’d never met her, never seen her live or anything, but I’d always loved her as artist and thought that she was exemplary as a young woman. I was one who definitely rocked the long wrap hair style with the exaggerated bang, the baggy pants with the cropped tops, and embraced the sexy tomboy thing. I felt like she was a famous version of how I was! Also, she was just hitting her stride and I was sure she was about to do HUGE things in both the music and film world. How could her life be cut short?! I cried as if she was one of my friends. I cried for her family. I cried for the loss the entertainment community was sure to experience. Ahhhh….it was not a good day.

I still wonder what she could have accomplished if she were still here in the physical. But she is still here in spirit, and I for one am happy that I got a chance to be a real fan. RIP Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001)

Also RIP: Eric Forman, Anthony Dodd, Scott Gallin, Douglas Kratz, Christopher Maldonado, Keith Wallace, Gina Smith and Luis Morales III.

As a blog reader, I’ve recently been seeing that the other Laker wives, notably Vanessa Bryant, have been kinda shutting her out and snubbing her. Hmmm….I have lots of thoughts on why this might be (maybe because Khloe makes money- however she may go about doing that- and they live off their husbands’ checks) and now Khloe’s given them a reason to really hate.

As a congratulations to her hubby Lamar Odom, Khloe bought him this beauty…

This 2010 drop Rolls Royce coupe is beeeeeeautiful! I know that it’s the thought that counts on gifts, but damn, this makes a statement!!! And she bought it for him. Wonder how those naysayers feel about that (lol). They talk about her “fame-whoring” ways, but looks like the reality shows, diet pill-pushing, party hosting, and radio talk shows are paying off lovely. Go ‘head Khloe….show that appreciation and love in a ballerific way!
