Happy 20X!
Posted: December 31, 2009 at 10:59 pmYaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy! Lol.
It’s almost New Year’s Day which means a lot of people are making a lot of resolutions that will be long forgotten by March (smh). I don’t really make resolutions because words are just words. I’d rather keep the goal to myself and simply DO IT. There are a few major things that I resolved, to myself, to do in 2009. I actually executed and stuck with them, too. For the most part anyway. (My butt has seen no parts of a gym since October
)
1. I BECAME A VEGETARIAN.
Well, pescatarian to be exact. On January 1st, 2009 I gave up chicken, beef and pork and haven’t looked back yet. I feel a lot better and maintaining my weight and jean size hasn’t been hard at all. Even with all the french fries I eat, lol. I will admit that I sometimes miss Zaxby’s chicken fingers and the Caramel Chicken at Cheesecake Factory. Other than that, though? I think this is for life.
2. I BECAME A SOLO ARTIST.
This one was a little harder. Only because I’d put a lot of time and effort into the Melrose project and it was one that I wholeheartedly saw working. But it was a situation where time seemed to be flying flying flying past us and it was not slowing down. Chicks wasn’t getting no younger, neither, so I’d told myself if it didn’t happen by a certain month, I’d have to bounce. It actually took me longer than I’d planned, but I still followed through. I was Audi5000. Sometimes you have to do what’s uncomfortable to get ahead. Just the way the cookie crumbles. It’s still a bummer that we had such great music that will never be heard. Oh wellz….
3. I BECAME MORE ASSERTIVE.
Closed mouth don’t get fed! And singing in the bathroom aint never did nothing for a career! I started chopping it up with more people, working with new people, setting up meetings and shows and though the going is a little slow (I mean I AM newly solo) things are lining up. People who I need to know seem to be “magically” falling into my path. I’m gonna attack this resolution twice as hard this year! See where that gets me!
So none of the “I’ma lose 15 pounds!” “I’m gonna make a half millie!” “I’m gonna be married by June!” resolutions for me. I’ll just keep on the path I’ve been on, continuing to try to improve each day as a person. A little saying I really like that applies: Let’s make tomorrow slightly better than today. Imagine a 1% improvement each day in everything you do. Believe….Achieve
Amen.
…amongst other wonderful things, these ultra sexy, yummylicious Mary Janes by Fendi. And with a little over a 5-n-a-half inch heel?! Girl, bye! I’ll be towering and stuntin’ simultaneously! I’m gonna have to perfect my walk in these so Santa can enjoy ‘em as much as I will

Here’s the official video for my homie Bertell’s buzz single “She Bad” featuring Bun B. He’s got an album due out 1st Quarter 2010…gooooo!
I don’t know why, but this song popped in my head early this morning. And it’s oh so accurate for quite a few people I know.
This year (and this decade) is almost over. Hallelujah! I am sure I’m not the only one who’s had a rough year, but the beautiful thing is WE MADE IT THROUGH! I plan on going through my photos and giving a run-down on ’09s highlights (and maybe a few lowlights as well), but I’ll have to wait until I make it back to Atlanta because I’ve got a new Mac and it has nada one photo in it! (lol).
But I will say that the biggest highlight of the year was getting even closer to the “real and true” me. Owning it. I corrected some mistakes and tweaked some flaws. I’m ready to go into this next decade eons smarter and better than the last. Nothing’s better than that
So are you ready? I am!

Aaaaaaggggggghhhhh!!!! Sex & The City: 2!!! I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! I am SUCH a Sex & The City Fan that when the series went off-air, I cried. I shopped Patricia Field when I lived in NYC because she dressed Carrie. I had the coffee table book of the series & had the DVD sets (I need to re-purchase both…they got lost admist my country-trotting). I NEVER missed an episode and if I did…I was on the re-runs tough. Can you tell that I can’t wait?!
Here’s the trailer for the remake of The Karate Kid starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Man, Will & Jada’s boy ’bout to be such a starruh!
These Nike Holiday commercials are easily the coolest Christmas commercial ever! Lol. Love ‘em! Voice overs by Lupe Fiasco and KRS One, starring Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Santa. CLASSIC
Last night was the Glam Rock Soul Christmas show here in Atlanta and it was a great success! I wasn’t even sure that I was going to make it back for the show…I’d missed my flight back to Atlanta from out west and was informed there was nothing flying out until 2 days later
But after driving 2 hours away to another city, catching a late flight and getting back to Atlanta at 5:30am (to a flat tire at the airport at that!), I made it. My cold even cooperated with me and took a chill pill while I performed. Voice was clear as a bell. Thank goodness! I’ll post pix and video later, but here’s one of the entire cast of the evening.

Chereka, Martina, Candis, Kendre, Heather, CandiPye, Victor, Kandi, Me, Kearia, Destiney, Satchel
