I Can Do Bad All By Myself

This is the new Tyler Perry movie that I’m in. Not starring in (lolololol!) but just in for a smidge of a second. Thanks to all of you who keep congratulating me :) It’s much appreciated. You really don’t even know how much! In addition to my small part, and the wonderful Taraji P. Henson starring, Mary J and Gladys Knight are also in it. And the music of the movie? Mr. Bryan-Michael Cox is all over it. I’m a super fan of him :) Sooooo….good ish all around. Make sure you check it on September 11th. Here’s the trailer, in case you’ve been under a rock (ha).

Dreeeeeamin’…

During our relationship, my ex-boyfriend asked me a few times, “Do you have a time limit on how long you’ll pursue your music? At what age would you say is the cutoff?” That question was usually followed by me making a very ugly face at him, probably a couple cuss words, and me storming out the house and heading to the beach to calm myself. I always felt some kinda way because it wasn’t clicking and he “just didn’t get it.” How can you measure a journey that you can’t see the end to? After all, music WAS me. I lived it. Breathed it. Wanted nothing more…not even him (though it was kinda a close race). So when confronted with the choice of him or music, I walked away from him & ran towards the dream. Back then I was thinking there is no life without music.

Somewhere between then and this year, I lost some of that fight mentality…music became a drag, a drain, drama. It wasn’t a source of joy anymore. It was just some bullshit that I felt I was too invested in to walk away from, and it just wasn’t clicking. But even when I have bumps in the road-and I have HELLA bumps in the road!-I still can’t give up the dream, so I had to treat my previous situation like I did that relationship. Skate off. Like Patti said, “I gotta new attitude!” The major difference in my attitude now is that I need to pursue this on my terms. That being said, let me share this…

In case some haven’t noticed or caught on, I AM NOW A SOLO ARTIST. Nothing bad or crazy went down with Melrose & me and Kelee will be sisters forever….I’ll support everything she does! But the group had run its course and it was time to get back to what made me happy. What’s the point of doing this shit if you aint happy?! I’m mad that we did such dope music that we didn’t get to share with the world. I think our dynamic was crazy! But I guess the _______’s (insert name of the countless wack chicks who are working right now) of the world got something over us. Hmmph….whole ‘nother story & topic.

So coming soon- new images, new music, new sound, new feel. You’ll be meeting the true Mylah. You got a piece of her in the group, but not the full monty ;) . I’m looking to do a lot of creative things and collab with some new people. Fresh energy is so good! So there you have it, no more questions. It’s official. I’m solo-dolo and now you know.

Bronner Brothers Fall ‘09

So another Bronner Brothers Hair Show weekend has come and gone. It was fun and interesting as usual. We even got paid more this year! The only bummer was some chicken-head stole my blackberry (cue cuss words galore!), but since I got an even better one that night, I guess I can’t trip. Here are some photos….

Vogue Evolution

Mmmkay…I was on the treadmill at the gym watching America’s Best Dance Crew & lo-n-behold….I almost bit the dust when I saw my old choreographer Pony and his crew Vogue Evolution ripping the stage! Fresh, fly & fierce is what they are. Being a person who is ENTIRELY against double-standards, small-mindedness, sterotyping, etc. I was SO GLAD to see them able to rep on a national level with their unique style that I was exposed to while living in NYC. I wasn’t gonna really get into the show this season, but now, I will be watching. Good luck to Pony and Vogue Evolution!

*POW POW!*

jada-will-smith

As if I couldn’t love this couple more! Jada Pinkett Smith speaks pretty candidly in a recent interview with Good Housekeeping Magazine on how she and Will keep that good thang fresh. :)

“My husband and I always make time for sex! Always! No matter how busy we are. And if I told you the places! You would not even believe!” the cover girl says in the September issue of Good Housekeeping, on sale Aug. 11.

“It’s crazy the risks that we take,” says Pinkett Smith, 37, “but that’s what keeps it so much fun.”

Adds the star (and executive producer) of TNT’s drama series HawthoRNe, “It’s been eye-opening how much the connection between my husband and me has deepened.”

Still, Pinkett Smith says sometimes even she’s surprised by the longevity of her marital union. “I never thought that I’d be married to anybody, and I surely never thought that I’d be married to anybody as long as I’ve been married to him. And I plan on being married to him for the rest of my life.”

Owww! I can dig it. This is the type of stuff I’ve already resolved that I’d do to keep my marriage fresh whenever that time rolls around. “Did someone call for maid service?” (naughty laugh….)

I’m Bizzack

Did you even notice I was gone? Lol…if you’re a twitter buddy, probably not. BUT, I am back to Atlanta from visiting my family in Indiana for a few days. And in an attempt to focus on family, I left my laptop at home…I KNOW I would’ve been on it all day if I’d taken it with me. It was a nice lil roadtrip. 8 hours through Tennessee and Kentucky to take me to Indy. And even though I do nothing but sit around on my Grandma’s couch and eat cake when I’m there :) I always love seeing my family.

This trip was a little tougher, not only because I drove, but because this time I was missing someone here in the A immensely. And I am most def not the type to really miss folk. I haven’t felt this way in a long time, and I can confidently say I’ve never felt this strongly about someone. It’s kinda weird. And scary as hell. But I like it. It’s becoming a little more natural everyday to settle into this love thing. Yeah….. :)

I guess I’ll have to blog extra this week to make up for these missed days, huh? Until then, kisskiss.

Mylah…UNTIED

So first up, THANKS to all my friends who supported me last night at my performance at Uptown. It was for the launch of my good friend Victor Jackson’s company, GlamRockSoul. The company is an image consulting, choreography and songwriting firm for up and coming artists. Kinda like a one stop shop! He’s suuuuper talented and I’m glad to have been a part of the whole show. It was fabulous!

I was hoping to have lots of great pix to share but unfortunately, my friend (yeah Vashti! I’m blasting you!!!) didn’t know how to play with my camera’s settings, so they all came out shit. Excuse my french. Annnnd there was no video taping :( Guess I failed to mention that to her as well. Ohhhh welllllz. I’ll wait for the official taping from the videographer. But here are a few blurry-as-heck pix. You can still peep the leg game (cheeeese!)

Push It Real Good

What do you do when life hands you lemons? Mix it with Belvy, sip the lemonade & keep it pushin!!! On to your next level of greatness, madams and sirs! That’s where I’m at today. I’ll film an “official” statement via youtube today (that ish sounds soooo freakin’ corny!!! “Official….”), but I’ve hopped off one plateau and onto the next level. Video footage and all to follow. I’m feeling my love for music coming back. It isn’t just work/stress/drama right now. That is such a bea-uuuutiful thang, shawt! Stay tuned, lovely ones.
