I guess after a few missteps, Ciara’s back on it with Fantasy Ride. And I’m glad to hear it, because I like Ciara…I think she’s really good at what she does. And I’m also glad to see she went back to “what it is that she does.” Cute and simple song, hot dancing, and easy melody. Sweet!
And on that note, off to the gym for the daily workout! (lol)

(God’s love, that is.)
I go to a really dynamic church that is fresh, innovative and like a shot of positivity and love. I hate to miss Sundays for sure, and I also try and make it Wednesday nights for bible study, too. Bible study at Destiny isn’t what you may be used to…it’s almost better than Sundays! But I didn’t go last night because I had a terrible, terrible headache. Instead I created my own service with youtube (lol). I watched a bunch of Tye Tribbett vids and lo and behold, what did I find? A video of my church “sangers” performing in Bermuda with Tye. Even though they weren’t in Atlanta, this is a glimpse of the energy at my church on Sundays

I love clothes. I love some clothes more than food and sometime even more than “relations.”
Not much can beat a beautiful garment and the way it makes you feel when your look is on point. I rock all kinds of styles from white tees to sequin minis. I have brands from Forever 21 to my “oooh-ahhhh-best-gift-ever” Louboutin. So my taste is pretty vast, but if I could pull a wardrobe from one designer- from jeans to dresses to shoes- it’d be BALMAIN!
It’s not a new brand, but a new designer, Christophe Decarnin, took the reigns of this French house 3 years ago and the result is nothing short of FAB! It’s high end, it’s punky/funky, it’s glitzy, it’s glamour. They’re star clothes! Since I love to show off my legs with short skirts and I’m a super-fan of a skinny pant, they seem to make everything I’d like to wear. Even their evening gowns aren’t frou-frou and pageanty. They’re just sexy! I can’t even begin to afford it (my favorite dress is $17,000!!!), but trust, when red-carpet time comes, I’ll be asking the stylist to borrow from Balmain!

Gwyneth Paltrow wore this on a red carpet under a tuxedo blazer. Hotness!

This goes out to all my really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking guy friends. You know who you are, with your smoldering stares, your shirtless poses, your BLUE STEEL faces (lol!!!). Get it, boys!
DISCLAIMER: If I’ve told you about your Derek Zoolander-isms, don’t even call to ask “You talking about me?” Yes I am, sir. Yes, I am.
All jokes and love!

While I was getting my hair done today, the show “No Bull, No Bias” with Campbell Brown was on and they closed the show with a very interesting story. Apparently there is a shortage of babies being born in Japan (we sure don’t have that problem over here!) and one company wants to do something about that.
Canon has implemented a program where twice a week, they send their employees home early (@ 5:30pm, which is early for them since 12-hr-work days are the norm in Japan) to GET IT POPPIN’! They want to encourage their workers to be with their families as well as expand their families. According to nydailynews.com:
Keidanren, Japan’s largest business group, with 1,300 major international corporations as members, has issued a plea to its members to let workers go home early to spend time with their families and help Japan with its pressing social problem.
One reason for the low birth rate is the 12-hour workday.
But there are several other factors compounding the problem — among them, the high cost of living, and social rigidity toward women and parenting.
In addition, Japan’s population is aging at a faster pace than any other country in the world.
Wow…mandatory time off to get busy. Sweeeet
I wonder if anybody’s mad.
Well here’s a soundtrack for ‘em

This is another song that I heard today that made me feel good (though I hear it on my ipod all the time…). This is probably one of my top 10 favorites…it’s “Is It A Crime” by Sade.
And for good measure, here’s “Love is Stronger Than Pride” which is also another joint I absolutely love.
Sade’s just so freakin’ cool

I posted this video on my myspace blog a long time ago and a convo I had tonight with my homeboy brought the memory of it back. This is (still) how I’m feeling about the industry. And this is one of the many reasons I love Erykah. Sarcasm at its finest.
Yep, I’m soooo not interested in the b.s. Why give so much energy and love to a game that don’t really love ya back? No thanks…I’ll pass. The end.

As I’m typing this, I think my heart rate has still not completely gone back to normal. Today, I started back on my running tip. Now, yeah, I’m a runner and have been doing it more on than off for the last 10 years or so. But every once in awhile I take a break from it, and I ALWAYS regret that break. I haven’t run since it got colder…I prefer running outside as opposed to on a treadmill (once you run outside, you immediately see how the treadmill is almost like fooling yourself). Add to that the fact that I didn’t do any type of cardio Jan 1st-21st because of the fast, and you get one sucky runner! So I’m about 5-6 weeks out of running.
Today, my happy butt gets up and decides not only is today the day that I get back on my stuff, but instead of a nice leisurely jog, I’m gonna run this nasty 45-degree hill behind my apartment 5 times with active rest (something calisthenic). Sounds relatively easy right? Ok, well for me, it sounded doable. I DID do it, but uhhhh……
My apartment’s at the top of the hill, so I walked to the bottom, did 15 push-ups then did a quick jog to the top. Ok, ok, not so bad! I was a little winded, but perfectly fine. Walked back down, did 15 tricep dips. Then some cars came by. “Aw, shoot, lemme show ‘em something.” Got my Jackie Joyner on and sprinted full speed to the top. Ok, that one kinda hurt a little. Walked down, 15 more push-ups, sprinted halfway and my legs started turning noodle-esque. The sprint was downgraded to a jog. I started talking to myself. “Ok, man, you’re over half done. This aint nothing! You’re a runner. A warrior even!!!” (lol…yes I’m the type to talk myself through pain.)
The walk down the hill was slower than before. I got to the bottom and it looked like the hill grew in length about 100 meters. The thought that maybe I was pushing myself too hard on the 1st day in 5-6 weeks occured, but Masochistic Mylah screamed, “Don’t be no punk!!! You better do this!” (there were some cuss words thrown in for good measure, of course) I got to the top of the 4th go-round, panting and with my chest burning. I was almost done so if I threw up now, it’d be okay
. Walked down, did my dips, took a 60 second breather, and went ALL OUT on the last sprint.
Maaaaaine, when I got to the top of that hill, a chick was seeing stars, the pavement was rippling under my feet like ocean waves, and my chest felt like I’d just eaten 20 jalapenos. I basically fell in my door and promptly to the floor trying to catch my breath. (It took me about 15 minutes to do so.) I still aint even got my butt in the shower (lol) because I would have hated for my maintenance people to have to find me butt-naked in the shower, passed out from a mini-heart attack or exhaustion.
Moral of the story- if you’re athletic, don’t let too much time pass betwen your workouts! Starting at 1 is a terrible, terrible thing, because if you’re anything like me, your ego (perhaps my masochism) will kick in and you’re gonna kill yourself to get back to where you were. If you don’t work out, get your lazy a** in gear!!! There’s nothing sexy about getting winded easily. Plus, don’t we all wanna be healthy? Haha…that was my way of softening up that previous statement.
Until I’m pregnant, I’m making a vow today to never again get off this running/cardio habit.
Okay, I’ve got my wind back, so let me have a snack and get my life together. Ciao!

Today at 6 a.m. marked the end of my 21 Day Daniel Fast! I can’t believe I actually made it! There were a few bumps (Yes, I did have champagne. Yes, I’m almost positive I ate some veggies cooked in butter), but all in all, I stuck with it and I have to say I feel so great and accomplished. There really is something to this whole fasting thing. The things I learned about myself, my habits, my surroundings, my company….man, you couldn’t pay for better insight. And last night after attending church….let’s just say the last of my doubts were cleared away. I am so fired up about where this life is taking me! Some people, places, and things will probably not be continuing on the path with me, but it’s alllll goooood. I feel like the old me was in a different chapter of my life. That one’s now done and I’ve turned the page. On to the next. If I never meant anything else before, I mean this now. I AM FOCUSED!
So since I was free to eat whatever this morning, I went to Burger King (lol) and ordered a 3 piece French Toast Sticks and some hash browns. Funny thing- it wasn’t even good. The whole time I was chewing, I was thinking, “This isn’t worth putting in my body. THIS is what I’d been so afraid of giving up?!” Yeaaah, anti-climatic indeed. Maybe I’ll slowly get back to loving that crap. Hopefully not. I already feel like I injected the slug drug into my system
Tonight I’m going to treat myself to some salmon (I haven’t had any meat in 21 days, either), maybe a sangria and possibly a dessert. We’ll see how wild I’m feeling.
I don’t want to block all this creativity that’s flowing in me right now with fatty foods and alcohol, though. Like I said, I’m fired up and ON FIRE, so whooooo! Thank God for planting that seed of desire in me to fast. I think I’m forever changed because of it. I’m listening to new people, reading new things, open to new possiblities. And just plain ole inspired! So I’ma go write something and leave yall with an oldie, but goodie. “Lady (Remix)” by D’Angelo. The original is still one of my favorite songs but I chose the remix vid because it features some of my favorite singer-chicks. JOi (nice and pregnant, lol!), Faith Evans (biggest inspiration as a singer/songwriter), and Erykah Badu (love her free! And man, she’s pretty). Later.

Can we simply give a round of applause for it?! (*claps*)
Siiiigh…I got a little sentimental, and I guess I still am! Even though I know yall have seen it before, I’ll just let the moment speak for itself.
